A public art commission for Hvidovre Hospital
This public art commission was devised for the new childrens’ and youth facilities of Hvidovre Hospital in Copenhagen. It had to comply to certain needs and wishes. Motifs were to be immediately recognisable, creating an atmosphere of familiarity. As much as possible, they should follow the hospital’s colour scheme. The construction of furniture, providing niches for the kids to retreat to, was another objective.
Also, the staff expressed a wish for some kind of device enabling them to playfully monitor the patients’ motor skills.
Paintings on the walls feature shoes as protagonists, a pair of yellow rubber boots representing the younger children, and a pair of sneakers representing teenagers.
Plastic leaves and flowers produced of reused plastic by a circular design studio. Furniture built by Faoform, upholstery by Møbelpolstreren in Hvidovre. Practical assistance by Peter Lindner. Supported by the Danish Arts Fund, A.P. Møllerfonden and Obelske Familiefond. |
